here are some photos from today’s memorial in downey, ca.
I see you
Through the smoke that’s clear enough
to let me know you’re there
but it’s thick enough so it’s too tough
to get through
the fire burns so brightly
but it doesn’t brighten my future
I lay my foot down lightly
but not light enough
I can’t be alone it’s too blue
I just need to be with you
let the smoke thin
let the fire dim
so I can can be with you
I need a breakthrough
Lightning strikes and hits a tree
just as the fire comes for me
I look around
You vanished thats the truth
The fire still blazes through my ears
just as the smoke starts to clear
you’ve vanished thats the truth
I can’t be alone it’s too blue
I just need to be with you
let the smoke thin
let the fire dim
so I can can be with you
I need a breakthrough
I look out the window
I see blue sky
I look out the window
I see moonlight
These days go by so quickly
But this this can’t be
You’ve vanished thats the truth
I can’t be alone it’s too blue
I can’t be alone it’s too blue
I can’t be alone it’s too blue
I can’t be alone it’s too blue
I just need to be with you
I need a breakthrough
Greg, I love you and I always will. I dedicate this song to you forever. Remember, your family loves you, watch over us. You’re lucky to get above before us. Never, ever, forget your life on earth, it’s a good experience.
Your cousin, Makenna
here are some photos that i have of gerg. i have a few more that i’ll post as i find them on my hard drive.

Greg Gilbert’s dad, Dave Gilbert, has established the “Gerg Foundation” in honor of his son.
I established “The Gerg Foundation” yesterday. It will be providing
scholarships to computer science students at Westmont [the college in Santa Barbara, CA that Gerg attended].I’m requesting contributions to the foundation in lieu of flowers.
While the flowers are always beautiful, they are as fleeting as Greg’s life was.
I’d like to have something more lasting and I think Greg would have liked the opportunity to help other students.If you could post something where his friends could see it regarding this I would be very grateful.
Dave

Apart from his busy work life, gerg spent a LOT of time helping others.
He built and hosted web sites for friends, he hosted chat servers, email servers, bug tracking software, blogs, game servers and more.
He was a busy guy to say the least!
Gerg’s dad, Dave, is concerned that all these services continue without interruption.
If you fall into the large group listed above, please contact me and provide as much info as you can re: the project or service that gerg hosted for you.
I will work with you to ensure that your domains and data get safely transferred without outage.
Greg’s memorial is scheduled for 11 AM on friday March 7th at the First Baptist Church of Downey.
Lunch will be served after the service.
If you need transportation from Santa Barbara, please let me know.
several friends have posted blog entries mourning greg’s untimely passing.
I have collected them here and will post more as I come across them.
